THE EIGHTH SESSION OF «ONE TEAM ..FOR MY LIFE » WAS HELD ALL ON THE FIELD
The project promoted by Euroleague and enthusiastically embraced by Dinamo and its Foundation keep going. The eighth session was all focused on the game on the floor of the PalaSerradimigni. After the holiday break tonight the boys of the San Donato 3rd class gathered at PalaSerradimigni for their first session of 2015 of the project "One1Team ... for my life!". Session that took place on the field with all the young players who competed in a match under the careful supervision of One Team Coaches Massimo Bisin and Paolo Citrini. One Team Ambassadors Jeff Brooks, Jack Devecchi and Meo Sacchetti were also present, and -reinforcing blue and orange teams- 1st team players Rakim Sanders and Cheikh Mbodj. After their meetings with the experts, in the previous seven sessions, the boys had for the first time a session of practice entirely. An expert- every time different- was involved in previous sessions: from Nicola Virdis, educator, artist and juggler with a great experience in the training of adolescents; Alessandra Buondonno, educator in a community for minors; Dr. Peter Fresu, nutrition specialist; Ali Bouchouata, operator of the non EU citizens agency of the City of Sassari; Dr. Minisola Antonio, chairman of the Juvenile Court. Also present at every session Dinamo Sassari's and DinamoLab's first team players. Many issues were treated, ranging from the ambitions and passions up to the civil society within the rules and neighbor, in the full acceptance of what we perceive as different from us. Each meeting was followed by an hour on the field, in which the children have learned the basics of basketball. Tonight the guys have been able to test the improvements obtained after weekly workout, they never played any sport before but they now have a good knowledge of the game and of the basic rules of basketball. They learned that playing a game is just not making the basket but also playing as a team, they learn to listen to their teammates. No metaphor of life might in fact be best than basketball, which teaches from childhood principles and values related to everyday life, such as respect for others, the ability to live together in a group within the rules, the positive and healthy competition that does not transcend ever in selfishness or arrogance. Basketball has the power to integrate, to cancel differences and to make everyone equal.
The game. The orange team started better, with Giada and Alessandro Mo. showing their offensive skills, the blue team counts on Francesco's three-pointers and Alessia's good defense. So the first quarter ends on the score of 6-12. Turnovers under the careful guidance of coach Bisin, in the role of referee as well: the match is joined by Andrea Pompianu and Andrea Amato, the Dinamo Under 17 boys. The second quarter ends with the score of 18-22 for the orange. The re-match, once again sees the triumph of the orange in a thrilling point-to-point game closed with the score of 8-10. Time was very fast and the guys have ventured into a mini shooting session before rising again on the Dinamo bus that brought them back home, in the heart of the city.
We wonder if these young players had the same feeling that it is perceived from the outside: the project One Team has taught them a lot more than just basketball rules or the perfect mechanics of a free throw, it has helped to make them more aware of their means, teasing their ambitions and instilling the concept that nothing is impossible if only you want it. Going beyond your limits is the goal, doing sometimes something wrong, but never losing confidence in themselves.
