The club looks beyond Europe: four days of special trip in Doha between basketball, events and institutional meetings

Dinamo widens its horizons and goes beyond European borders to aim towards internationalization, investing in terms of identity and sports model and developing its experience beyond the old continent. Team, staff and managers will be in Doha from February 19th to 22nd for Sardinia Days, a unique occurrence. Once again, Sardinian authorities are in the front line with the basketball club for adding a new important building block on the ambitious common project of valorization and development.
The beating heart of this initiative is the fruitful collaboration and shared path with Sardinian government and its representatives, the President of the island’s government Mr. Francesco Pigliaru, the councilor for tourism Ms. Barbara Argiolas and the councilor for industry Ms. Maria Grazia Piras. Thanks to an extraordinary work in synergy it was possible to make this unique event that pursues to bring Sardinian heritage, culture and beauty throughout basketball excellency in a beautiful country with a significant economic growth and that it’s very much involved to invest in the sports field, especially in the valorization and promotion of basketball.
The Qatar Basketball Federation (QBF), the Qatari basketball body, has a fundamental part of the project that brings together sports, business and tourism. The QBF with its President Mr. Ahmad Abdulrahman al-Muftah and the Italian Basketball Federation (FIP) with its President Mr. Gianni Petrucci embraced the idea with enthusiasm, giving their timely help and support for making it possible. For this reason, Dinamo Sassari would like to give them a special thanks.

The project. The highlight of the Sardinia Days will be the game with Al Wakrah basketball team, scheduled for February 20th, when the giants (another way to call Dinamo Sassari’s players for to the identification with the famous giants of Mont’e Prama, the recent archeological discovery that rewrote the history of the Mediterranean Sea) will play with one of the emerging teams of the ever-growing reality of basketball in this Arab country. The wide and enterprising project - that put together sports, business and tourism - is to open a window between Sardinia and Qatar, which already shared important projects, looking at a reality as Qatar that is making massive investments in the sports field and which undoubtedly represents a model of reference for those, like Dinamo Sassari, that always want to look forward and take a new step in term of realization of their identity in the international scene. In this perspective – and realizing an important part of the mission Dinamo 2020 – the club decided to invest in its first international event in a country well known also for its great interest in sports. For the first time in Europe, a basketball club plays an international game during the season with the aim of building relationships and networking outside Europe.
